Hybrid Teaching with Math and Literacy Centers – EP 313

TME Announcements

Teaching during the 2020-2021 school year has had it's major ups and downs. Teachers have struggled to keep learning as normal as possible while facing tremendous obstacles. One of the most frequently asked questions I have gotten this year is how to teach in small groups while teaching virtually or in a HYBRID model. This week on the podcast, I sat down with Michelle White. She is a former fifth-grade teacher who found herself teaching kindergarten for the first time this year. She started teaching virtually. Then went to a HYBRID model, and is now excited to welcome her kindergartners back in person soon. She shares how she mastered hybrid teaching with math and literacy centers so she could successfully teach in small groups and meet with all of her students each day!

Michelle taught fifth grade for over a decade and was moved to kindergarten where she found herself a bit like a fish out of water. She struggled to get the hang of small group instruction and knew she had to find a way to make math and literacy centers work even when teaching virtually, and eventually in a hybrid model! Using the Easy Centers Framework that I teach in Learning Centers Made Easy, Michelle was able to use small groups during her hybrid teaching with math and literacy centers that kept her students engaged and learning!
